Lately, life has felt especially full, and I’ve found myself needing to consciously schedule quiet moments to reconnect and ground myself. When I’m not grounded, my thoughts feel scattered, a sense of overwhelm creeps in, and I don’t quite feel like my usual calm “I’ve got this” self. I know it’s time to come back to that steady, anchored feeling — where I’m present and clear-minded.
One of the easiest ways to feel more grounded is to work on your Root/Base Chakra as this chakra governs feelings of stability in our lives and connects us to the earth.
For me it’s when Sodashi’s Chakra One: Be Resilient blend comes in handy and I especially Iove it because it contains one of my favourite botanicals Angelica Root.
What is Angelica Root and how does it help with grounding?
Angelica Root sometimes known as “Oil of the Angels” comes from a gorgeous aromatic plant that grows in northern Europe and parts of Asia. It grows roughly 2-3 meters in height and has tough hollow stems with eye-catching spherical clumps of greenish or yellowish-white flowers. However, it’s not the dramatic flowers that are used when extracting the essential oil, as the name depicts it’s the root of the plant.
Angelica Root has a long history of being used for herbalism and traditional medicine not just for its physical benefits, but for its ability to strengthen the mind. Angelica root essence is deeply aromatic, giving a wonderful earthy scent with hints of musk, that help reduce feelings of nervous tension, support clear thinking, perseverance and emotional stability- no wonder this botanical is your root chakra’s best friend!
Here are a few ideas for how you can use Chakra One: Be Resilient with Angelica Root essence to create self-care moments that help you feel more grounded…
-
Simply apply to pulse points or the soles of your feet
-
Place a drop on your decolletage or wrists before meditation or breathing exercises
-
Add a few drops to your bath and relax
-
Apply and quietly repeat an affirmation like “I am grounded, secure and calm”
-
Apply to pulse points and walk barefoot in your garden or take a walk in nature
-
Apply before a yoga session or exercise
-
Use with a visualisation; for example - imagining a large tree its roots anchoring it to the earth.
The benefits of feeling grounded are amazing... you feel stable, steady, present and the best version of yourself. So, in a world that pulls us in every direction why not use what nature has to offer and take those moments for ourselves to support our inner strength and wellness.
