From Australian soil to your skin – the incredible benefits of Macadamia Oil

by Sodashi Skincare

Here at Sodashi, we love the power of plant oils, so let us give Macadamia oil some time in the spotlight.

Macadamia trees are native to Australia growing in the rainforests of Queensland and New South Wales. Indigenous Australians have been harvesting and enjoying macadamia nuts as bush tucker since they first roamed our sunburnt land.

And yes, macadamia nuts tossed into your morning muesli have a myriad of health benefits, but did you know that macadamia oil applied topically is a natural elixir for your skin?

Light golden in colour and extracted from the flesh of the nut, Macadamia oil first appeared in skincare formulations in the 1950’s due to its incredible composition which helps to repair and nourish the complexion.

Macadamia oil is naturally rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, it's lightweight and non-comedogenic making it a valued ingredient in skincare to restore a healthy glow.

Let’s look at some key components that make up Macadamia oil and how they benefit the skin…

Macadamia Oil - Fatty Acids

Other skin- loving elements found in Macadamia oil include;

Vitamin E, which is a strong antioxidant, preventing free radical damage and helping to repair the skin. Phytosterols which enhance absorption, ensuring the oil penetrates deeply without feeling greasy, while also soothing, hydrating, and strengthening the skin barrier.

Lastly Squalene which is essential for a dry skin type as it will reduce moisture loss and deeply hydrate.

With all this goodness packed into one precious oil... I think it’s time we all incorporated this hero ingredient into our skincare routine. Macadamia oil features in many Sodashi formulations, see links to a few of these products below.
