Dry Skin Remedies… a guide to caring for dry skin.

What is dry skin and how does it feel?

Dry skin is either how your skin has always been… your “skin type” or it can be occasional and arise due to season changes, indoor heating and cooling, our daily habits or using harsh stripping products.

Dry skin will not feel plump and dewy, often it feels tight with a rough texture, it may even appear dull and flakey. The skin lacks adequate moisture and natural oil which are essential for that smooth, nourished healthy and glowing skin we all seek.

What are some daily habits that can be linked to dry skin?

  • Lifestyle – Avoid hot showers to warm up, it will strip the skins natural oils. Ensure you’re drinking enough water.

  • Environment - If you are running indoor heating or cooling and have a dry environment, perhaps consider using a humidifier.

  • Diet - ensure you eat food rich in omega 3’s and antioxidants such as salmon, chia seeds and flax seeds.

What should my skincare routine look like?

Here are a few thoughtful routine ideas that will make the world of difference and help you manage dry, depleted skin.

1. Cleansing

Ensure you are using a gentle cleanser, it may be a cream cleanser or enriched with plant oils like macadamia or jojoba and will leave your skin feeling comfortable, not dry or tight. When washing your face, be mindful to use lukewarm water to avoid drying out your skin. One of my favourites is our Clay Cleanser with Lavender.

2. Face Mist

Right after cleansing use a hydrating mist like our Rejuvenating Face Mist this contains Rose hydrosol which is a natural humectant retaining and holding moisture within the skin.

3. Serum

If your skin is especially dry and you’re in need of extra nourishment, now is a great time to apply a serum or face oil. Sodashi Serums are a fusion of skin-loving botanicals perfect for dry skin because they are rich in fatty acids and antioxidants that will replenish lost moisture and strengthen the lipid barrier. I highly recommend our Rejuvenating Serum for a boost of hydration.

4. Moisturiser

Then lastly finish with a deeply hydrating and protective moisturiser. I love Sodashi’s Nourishing Repair Treatment, not only because it was the winner of the Beauty Shortlist Award 2025, but because it consistently delivers maximum hydration and my skin is left feeling radiant, plump and healthy. Just what you need if you suffer from dry skin! It’s infused with so many beneficial ingredients like Centella, Carrot and Frankincense that revive and repair, plus contains Shae butter, a natural emollient that nourishes, softens and locks in moisture beautifully.

5. Weekly Mask

While moisturising is of course the essential final step in your daily routine, if your skin is especially dry, once a week you could add a hydrating mask to treat your skin and give it an intensive moisture boost. For this my go to is always the exceptional, Plant Essence Replenish Mask as it really is the ultimate food for the skin.

Caring for dry skin doesn’t need to be complex, take note of how your skin feels and responds. Make small adjustments to your routine and daily habits, this will go a long way to replenish moisture and restore your glow.
